Sezione I

Itinerari

Four lines through the province, drawn from the original 2008 inventory. Distances and elevations as published.

01 Mountain bike

Anello dei Nove Colli

Nine hills, one loop. The most punishing line in our archive, traced through the rolling Montefeltro between Verdicchio vineyards and stone-walled borghi. Earned in the legs; remembered for years.

02 Bici da strada

Gabicce Mare → San Marino → Gabicce

A classic raid from the Adriatic up into the Republic, climbing through Verucchio and dropping back along the Marecchia. The morning ride that taught a generation of Marchigian cyclists what they were made of.

03 Bici da strada

Gabicce → Urbino → Gabicce

A pilgrimage in two wheels: out across the Foglia, up through the renaissance silhouette of Urbino, then home along the Metauro. Lunch under Raffaello’s window; back before the bells.

Alla Scoperta della Miniera

A slow line into the hills above Urbino, ending at an old sulphur mine reborn as an art workshop. Lithography presses, ceramic kilns, and a long lunch of pici and Bianchello. The route the original site was proudest of.

Sezione II

I luoghi

The towns within a day’s ride of any hotel in our index. The original site mapped twelve; these six anchor the rest.

01 PROV. PU

Gabicce Mare

sul mare · 5.700 abitanti

The salt-tile rooftops of the old fishing port and the falesia of San Bartolo behind. Where every route in this guide begins or ends.

28 ITINERARI PASSANO DI QUI

02 PROV. PU

Pesaro

11 m · Rossini’s city

Seven kilometres of fine sand from the Foglia to the Ardizio, with a centro storico close enough to ride between rosso conero and concert hall.

13 ITINERARI PASSANO DI QUI

03 PROV. PU

Urbino

485 m · patrimonio UNESCO

The Renaissance court rebuilt as a hill town: Palazzo Ducale, Raffaello’s birthplace, and an Accademia whose alumni still draw on the city’s long sight-lines.

9 ITINERARI PASSANO DI QUI

04 PROV. PU

Gradara

142 m · borgo più bello

The castle where Paolo and Francesca conducted the most consequential affair in the Inferno. A summit on the way home from any northern route.

6 ITINERARI PASSANO DI QUI

05 PROV. RN

San Leo

589 m · Montefeltro

A fortress on a vertical block of sandstone; the climb up is brutal, the view is the entire Adriatic. Cagliostro died here, badly.

4 ITINERARI PASSANO DI QUI

06 PROV. PU

Carpegna

748 m · Pantani territory

The mountain Marco Pantani trained on through every season of his career. The road up is still where local riders measure each other.

Cronaca della testata

2001 · 2011 · 2026

Bike Sport Hotels was first published in 2001 as a working portal for six hotels in Gabicce Mare, Pesaro and Senigallia who shared a stubborn idea: that the hills behind their towns were among the finest cycling country in Italy, and that nobody outside Le Marche knew it.

The site ran for a decade in four languages, mapping fifty-four routes, two multi-day tours, three nature parks and the entire ducal hinterland between Pesaro and Urbino. It went dark in 2011. The hotels stayed. The roads stayed. The archive stayed — recovered, page by page, from the Wayback Machine.

This edition is its second life. We are republishing the routes slowly, in English first, with the same insistence on local knowledge and the same refusal to pretend Le Marche is anywhere else.
